ABOUT US
A warm welcome to Baldock Community Orchestra!
We rehearse every Thursday evening this term at Free Church, Norton Way South, Letchworth Garden City from 8pm - 9.30pm during school term times. Whether you have a piccolo, a double bass or any other instrument, we'd be very pleased to welcome you along. We're a friendly bunch, and there's no worrying audition to go through. Anyone interested in coming along for a "Trial" or "Taster" session would be most welcome. Do let us know before you arrive so we can organise sheet music for you to play.
Membership fees are £60 per term and we are a not for profit organisation. As we serve the community, if you would like to play but would find the fees too much, we may be able to negotiate with you confidentially.

WHO WE ARE
We're a group of local people who enjoy music and who wanted to be part of an orchestra. Some of us are a little rusty from practice, some haven't been playing for very long and others are, well, pretty good! The point is to just join in, to try, and to make music, regardless of your musical expertise.

HISTORY OF THE ORCHESTRA
Our first rehearsal was on Thursday 10th September 2015, when 18 musicians met for the very first time. The group is the result of determined recruiting by our former musical director and conductor, Rachel Thomas, and a local professional cellist, Catherine Wilmers. Between them, their drive and enthusiasm for community music rallied our musical members together and off we went! We grew to 28 members in just 8 weeks, and the orchestra continues to develop. Come and be part of it.
DEBUT PERFORMANCE in BALDOCK TOWN HALL 14TH NOVEMBER 2015
That was a great night! The orchestra delivered a great debut performance, what a great way to mark our first 8 weeks as a community group. The hall was pretty full and the stage was rammed with musicians... so full that a couple of us played pretty much in the front row of the audience :-) so we really made sure we have that 'community' feel! Our repertoire was well received, and of course, very big thanks to Rachel for all the really hard graft in putting that all together for us. Not only that, but she sings and entertains too as the orchestra had a little 'breather' after our first few pieces.
Well done to all orchestra members for turning out to support this Keech Hospice fundraiser.
